Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, downloading, installing, or using the Odyssey Journal mobile application ("the App"), website (odysseyjournal.app), or any associated services provided by Odyssey Journal / Arif Gültaş ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").
If you do not agree to all provisions of these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of and uninstall the App.
Description of Service
Odyssey Journal is a personal travel documentation and community platform that enables registered users to:
- Document personal journeys with photo stories, notes, and destination markers.
- Share travel experiences publicly or save them in personal collections.
- Discover travel destinations and itineraries contributed by global travelers.
- Follow other travelers, interact via likes and comments, and engage in peer messaging.
- Access offline memories with cloud synchronization powered by Supabase.
Eligibility & Account Security
3.1 Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age required in your country) to create an account or use the App. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained permission from your parent or legal guardian to use the App.
An account is required to use Odyssey Journal — you must register before you can create entries. Offline features record to your device and sync to your account once you are online.
3.2 Account Registration & Security
- You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and account session.
- You are entirely responsible for all activities and content published under your account.
- If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, you must immediately notify us at support@odysseyjournal.app.
User-Generated Content (UGC) & Personal Data Warranties
4.1 Ownership and License
- You retain all copyright and intellectual property rights in the original photos, captions, and travel stories that you post.
- By posting content on Odyssey Journal, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your public content solely for operating, promoting, and improving the App. This license terminates when you delete your content or account, subject to standard backup cycle purge times (up to 30 days).
4.2 Prohibited Content & Behavior
You strictly agree and warrant that you will NOT upload, post, share, or transmit any content that:
- Infringes Third-Party Privacy & KVKK: Contains photos, videos, full names, addresses, phone numbers, identity numbers, or private details of third-party individuals without their explicit written consent.
- Infringes Intellectual Property: Violates any copyright, trademark, patent, or proprietary rights of any entity or photographer.
- Harmful or Illegal Material: Is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, abusive, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, or promotes violence or illegal activities.
- Commercial Spam: Contains unauthorized commercial advertisements, affiliate marketing links, pyramid schemes, or chain letters.
- Malicious Code: Contains viruses, malware, bots, or scripts intended to disrupt or scrape the App infrastructure.
4.3 Content Moderation & Takedown
- We do not prescreen all user content; however, we reserve the full right (but not the obligation) to monitor, investigate, hide, or permanently delete any content that violates these Terms, community guidelines, or applicable laws, without prior notice.

Indemnification & Recourse
Cloud Infrastructure & Third-Party Services
6.1 Supabase Backend
Odyssey Journal relies on Supabase, Inc. for user authentication, database management, and media storage. While Supabase provides enterprise-grade reliability and security (hosted in AWS EU Frankfurt with AES-256 encryption), you acknowledge that cloud operations may occasionally experience latency, scheduled maintenance, or unforeseen interruptions beyond our reasonable control.
6.2 External APIs & Map Data
Map visualizations and geocoding are powered by Google Maps Platform. Location metadata is provided for contextual exploration and should not be relied upon for navigation, survival, or emergency purposes.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP AND ALL ASSOCIATED SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF TRAVEL DATA.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR ACCESSIBLE AT ANY SPECIFIC TIME OR LOCATION.
- DEFECTS OR ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY.
- USER CONTENT STORED IN THE APP WILL NEVER BE ACCIDENTALLY LOST OR DAMAGED (USERS ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN INDEPENDENT BACKUPS OF THEIR ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS).
Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL ODYSSEY JOURNAL, ITS DEVELOPER, OR ITS SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
- YOUR ACCESS TO, USE OF, OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE APP;
- ANY USER-GENERATED CONTENT, CONDUCT, OR OFFENSIVE STATEMENTS OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE APP;
- UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR CONTENT OR TRANSMISSIONS;
- ANY BUGS, VIRUSES, OR SERVICE DISRUPTIONS OCCURRING THROUGH THIRD-PARTY INFRASTRUCTURE.
- IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE APP EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID BY YOU TO ODYSSEY JOURNAL DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE INCIDENT, OR ZERO TURKISH LIRAS / ZERO US DOLLARS (0 TL / $0 USD) IF YOU HAVE USED THE APP FREE OF CHARGE.
Account Termination
9.1 By You
You may terminate these Terms at any time by deleting your account via Settings > Account > Delete Account and uninstalling the mobile application.
9.2 By Us
We reserve the right to suspend, disable, or permanently terminate your account and access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if:
- You breach any provision of these Terms or community guidelines.
- Your conduct harms other users or the reputation of the App.
- We are required to do so by legal or regulatory authorities.
Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms of Service, their interpretation, validity, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict of law principles.
All disputes, controversies, or claims arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts and Enforcement Offices of Istanbul (Çağlayan), Republic of Türkiye.
Platform-Specific Terms
11.1 Apple App Store
If you obtained the App from Apple's App Store:
- You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Odyssey Journal only, not with Apple Inc. ("Apple").
- Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the App.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, product liability claims, or intellectual property infringement claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and shall have the right to enforce these Terms against you.
11.2 Google Play Store
If you obtained the App from Google Play Store:
- You acknowledge that Google LLC is not responsible for the App or its content and has no maintenance or support obligations.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide reasonable notice prior to new terms taking effect by displaying an in-app banner or sending an email notification. Your continued access or use of Odyssey Journal after any revisions constitutes your binding acceptance of the updated Terms.
